Firmino Shines as Liverpool humiliate Arsenal
English Premier League leader, Liverpool humiliated Arsenal at the Anfield in the EPL week 20 match between the 2 top teams.
Arsenal started the game on a good note after Ainsley Maitland-Niles opened the score chart in the 11th minute of the match. Roberto Firmino didn’t allow the visiting team to enjoy their lead as he scored just 3 minutes after the opener to level the match. Firmino was on the score chart again just 2 minutes after his first goal to give the home team the lead.
Sadio Mane further sank the visiting team in the 32nd minute when he increased the lead for the home team. Salah scored from the spot in the 45th minute to make the score 4 – 1 in favor of the home team. Firmino converted from the spot in the 65th minute to complete his hat-trick of the night. Liverpool won the match 5 – 1.
Liverpool have now gone 20 matches in the EPL without a defeat, winning 17 and playing draw in just 3. They have now won 9 consecutive matches in the league. The Reds are now 9 points clear on top of the log as the second-placed team, Tottenham Hotspur were stunned by Wolves earlier in the day.
This is Firmino’s first hat-trick in the EPL taking his total goals to 43 in the league, he is now the highest goal scoring Brazillian in the English Premier League.
Arsenal, on the other hand, remain in the 5th position on the log.
Liverpool are unable to add to their clean sheets but it was a good day for the club and their fans as the Merseyside team increased their goal difference to 40, the highest in the league.
