City took the lead in the 10th minute after David Silva opened the scorecard in the 10th minute. P. Hojbjerg leveled the match in the 37th minute. The home team couldn’t hold on to the draw for long as J.W. Prowse gifted the visiting team the lead after he put the ball into his own net in the 45th minute. Sergio Aguero quickly took advantage of the downed psych to increase the lead for the visiting team seconds later.
The second half was intense as both teams gave it their all but there was no goal scored in the second 45 but the goal scorer for Southampton P. Hojbjerg received a straight red in the 85th minute. City won the match 3 goals to 1.
Pep Guardiola’s men are now second on the log with 7 points between them and the league leader, Liverpool.
Southampton, on the other hand, are still battling in the relegation zone as they now have the same number of points as Burnley. Southampton have 15 points and are 17th on the log while Burnley are 18th with the same number of points.
Tottenham are just 2 points behind City on the log and any slip by the defending champion can take them further down the table.
Manchester City were able to end the year on a winning note and did well to bounce back from 2 consecutive back to back defeat in the league.
