Burna Boy is Right for Demanding for a Bigger Font from Coachella Organizers

"I am an AFRICAN GIANT" - Burna Boy calls out Coachella Organisers

Nigerian Afro-fusion musician Burna Boy was announced as one of the artists that will perform in this year Coachella festival which is a great feat for the ‘ye’ crooner.

Burna Boy and Mr. Eazi are the only African artist based in Africa that will be performing at the festival. In the list of artists to perform are the likes of Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Pusha T, Kid Cudi and so much more.

Not long after the news broke, Burna Boy reacted to the report. Burna Boy took to his social media account to call out the show organizers for typing his name in small fonts on the festival poster.

The font of Coachella festival poster is in different sizes, the biggest size if for the headliners of the concert while there are medium and small and very small fonts for other artists that will perform in the show. Burna Boy’s name was typed in the small fonts.

Burna Boy had a great year in 2018, his song ‘ye’ is among the 25th most listened to songs in the UK in 2018 according to the Complex UK. YouTube also featured him as an Artist on the Rise in 2018 after the success of his ‘ye’ video. Burna Boy and Mr. Eazi deserve a medium font in the poster.

Burna Boy is an African giant and if he would be performing at an international festival then he should be given more recognition. It is time African artists start taking a stand regarding how they are viewed outside the country.

There was a time BET used to present the ‘Best African Act’ award backstage while they award other artists on the main stage, Wizkid spoke against this act by the Black Entertainment Television network in 2017 and they adjusted in 2018. Davido was presented his award on the main stage in 2018.
