Lady jailed for killing man who Bought her for Sex, granted Clemency

Cyntoia Brown, the lady who was jailed for killing a man who bought her for sex, has been granted clemency and will be eligible for release on August 7th.

Tennessee governor, Bill Haslam, on Monday, granted executive clemency to Cyntoia Brown and conditions for her release include undergoing regular counseling, work at least 50 hours of community service, and getting a job.

The lady who killed a man who paid her for sex when she was just 16-years-old, “will be subject to a release plan approved by the Tennessee Department of Correction and special supervision conditions, including employment, education, counseling, and community engagement requirements.”

“Cyntoia Brown committed, by her own admission, a horrific crime at the age of 16,” Haslam said in a statement. “Yet, imposing a life sentence on a juvenile that would require her to serve at least 51 years before even being eligible for parole consideration is too harsh, especially in light of the extraordinary steps Ms. Brown has taken to rebuild her life.”

Brown was a victim of child trafficking and was handed a life sentence for the killing of 43-year-old Johnny Allen in 2004. The lady who has just been granted clemency was 16 at the time and lived with her 24-year-old boyfriend, a pimp known as “Kut Throat” who forced her into prostitution and raped her.

She reportedly shot him dead at his home, saying she thought he was reaching for his gun to kill her, according to court documents. Before she was granted clemency, Tennessee’s Supreme Court ruled that Brown must remain in prison for at least 51 years before she was eligible for release.
