Pentagon chief of staff Kevin Sweeney Resigns

Pentagon Chief of Staff Kevin Sweeney has resigned, just a month after the Defence Secretary James Mattis announced his resignation.

Rear Adm. Kevin Sweeney who gave no reason for his resignation in a brief statement, is now the third senior Pentagon official to announce his resignation since President Donald Trump announced US forces would leave Syria.

Pentagon Chief of Staff Kevin Sweeney stated that it had been “an honor to serve” alongside his colleagues in the department, but made no mention of Mr. Trump in his resignation letter.

“After two years in the Pentagon, I’ve decided the time is right to return to the private sector. It has been an honor to serve again alongside the men and women of the Department of Defense,” Sweeney said in his announcement.
