Police Officer, 2 others arrested for robbing victim after bank withdrawal

police officer, Lance Corporal Nathaniel Akomea and 2 others identified as Francis Amoako and Richard Boateng, have been arrested for robbing a victim after bank withdrawal.

The police officer and his gang members who robbed their victim and escaped in a car at Okpoi Gonno, near the Spintex Road in Accra, Ghana, were pursued and arrested by the Director-General of Special Duties of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP) Rev. David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, who was in the company of his driver and bodyguard.

While a yet-to-be-identified fourth member of the gang is still at large, Amoako and Boateng told newsmen that they were National Security operatives. The robbery reportedly started around the Palace Mall on the Spintex Road and ended near the Coca Cola Roundabout about 1 p.m.

The robbers were arrested after the police commissioner was stopped by victim of the robbery, Mr Emmanuel David, who told him that the people on board a red Toyota Corolla, with registration number GE 340-18, had robbed him of GH¢5,640 which he withdrew from Ring Road Central branch of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).

One Super pistol and the stolen cash were recovered from the robbers who were given a hot chase and over-powered and taken to Okpoi Gonno Police Station for further investigations.
