APC Chairman shot dead by Gunmen in Benue
Boniface Okoloho, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohimini local government area of Benue state, has been killed by unknown gunmen.
He was said to have been ambushed and shot dead by unknown gunmen on his way home on Saturday night. Ohimini which is where the incident occurred, is an Idoma dominated area in the state which forms part of Benue South Senatorial District.
Benue State Police Spokesperson, Moses Yamu who confirmed the incident told CableNG;
“I can confirm the APC chairman in the area was killed. He was killed by unknown gunmen in the night yesterday.”
He also said the police have commenced an investigation to unravel circumstances surrounding the sad incident and are also on the hunt for the suspects behind it.
The incident happened the day the presidential and national elections were scheduled to hold.
The elections though have since been shifted by a week.
The chairman of the APC in Benue South, Mohammed Hassan, also confirmed the incident to Premium Times said;
“It is true, our Ohimini local government chairman has been killed,” he said.
