Uber Driver arrested for selling his company's car with the intent of using Money realized to Travel to Canada (Photos)

An Uber driver, Ademola Quadri, and two others have been arrested by men of the Lagos state police command for raising a false alarm on car snatching with the intent to cover up their crime.

Bala Elkana, spokesperson of the Lagos state police command in a statement released today Sunday, July 7th, said on Monday, July 1st, Quadri made a complaint at the Igando Police Station,  that three armed men snatched his Toyota Corolla Saloon car with registration no: SMK 732 BR, property of Pinehill Leasing Ltd. The car was leased to him for the purpose of using it for his transportation business.

The Igando Divisional Police Officer, CSP Taiwo Kasumu suspecting something sinister, began investigating the calls Quadri made and text messages he received prior to reporting the theft at the station. Investigations by the police showed he received a bank alert of N560k on his phone with a follow-up message from an anonymous person demanding to have the car since a part payment has been made.

The police confronted Quadri the information available to them and he confessed to selling off the car with the intent of using the money he realised to travel to Canada for greener pastures.

He led detectives to Ijegun area of Ikotun where the purported snatched vehicle was kept pending full payment. The police arrested two other suspects namely, Uche Sunday, 32 years old, the marketer who claimed to have negotiated the purchase of the car online and one other, name withheld, suspected to be an innocent buyer.

Bala said the suspects would be charged to court soon.
