We’re becoming more preoccupied with the worldly stuff that we forget death is inevitable – Muslim cleric Mufti Menk

Ismail ibn Musa Menk, also known as Mufti Menk (born 27 June 1975) who is a Muslim cleric from Zimbabwe has spoken about living valuable lives, just a day after the sudden death of American basketball star, Kobe Bryant, his daughter, Gianna and 7 other passengers who died in a helicopter crash.

The Zimbabwean author, speaking on coming to the understanding that life is fickle and can end anytime, said that human beings are becoming more preoccupied with worldly things that everyone forgets death is inevitable.

Although the scholar did not directly link his statement to the NBA star’s death, it can be deduced that he is making reference to it, as he shared the view a day after the tragic incident.

Mufti Menk concluded by advising people to be wise and live better lives instead of ending up with regret in the grave.

He wrote:

“We’re becoming more preoccupied with the worldly stuff that we forget death is inevitable. It can come anytime; yet we always think we have time on our side. Don’t be foolish. May we realize this sooner rather than later and not be among those filled with regret in our graves!”
