Emir of Loko shares details of discussion with deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi, before his relocation to Awe

The Emir of Loko in Nasarawa state, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo has shared details of his meeting with the deposed Emir of Kano, after he (Sanusi) spent a night in his house before being relocated to Awe.

Sabo who disclosed that Sanusi has made contacts and congratulated the new Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero on his ascension of the throne, stated that the former Governor of Central Bank is not disturbed by the dethronement.

In an interview on BBC Hause, the first-class paramount ruler said Sanusi has no regret on his dethronement which he hinged on politics.

The Emir of Loko who debunked claims of Sanusi being relocated because of the prevailing insecurity in the area averred that the deposed Emir of Kano was relocated due to lack of social amenities and poor environment.

He said;

 “Sanusi was not disturbed at all when he got here, in fact he slept very well and accepted the dethronement as his destiny. He even said that he will not challenge his dethronement in court. He told the people to support the new Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero. In fact, he sent a text message congratulating the new Emir.

“Sanusi advised traditional rulers to know the way to relate with politicians, because there is nothing that brought this dethronement except politics.

“Emir Sanusi does not have any regrets because he said he did not commit any offence.

“Here in Loko, we are hospitable people as such we received the dethroned Emir of Kano warmly as it should be.

‘’In fact, my people are not happy as regards relocating the said dethroned Emir to Awe. The authority concerned said they want to relocate him owing to the fact that we lack so many social amenities here.

“The executive arm of government has tenure of office while we the traditional institution doesn’t have. We are custodians of our respective people while the executive arm remains supreme authority that we need to respect.

“We are answerable to them at all times and in a situation where any traditional ruler decides to disrespect orders of his principal he may be dethroned as in the case of Emir Sanusi.

“Emir (Sanusi) is too big for this place. He is a high ranking personality and supposed to be under the air conditioner, but we don’t have electricity to give him that.

“We received him very well, but with mixed feelings. We were sad because of what happened to him, because when your fellow human being is in this kind of situation, you are expected to be with him in that situation with him, but we were happy that our village came to limelight; of all the cities in Nigeria, it was Loko that was chosen for him to come to.”

The Madaki Awe, Adamu Salihu Isa who also confirmed the relocation of the deposed Kano Emir, said the clothes he wore obviously showed that he was not happy over what happened to him. He confirmed that there is water, light and standby generator set as well as other facilities intact for his use and comfort.
