#Coronavirus: Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has tested positive to COVID-19

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has announced that he has tested positive to the coronavirus infection.

The governor made the disclosure on Tuesday, June 30, via a video shared on his official and verified Twitter handle.

Akeredolu said as at the time of receiving his test result, he is symptomatic and has since gone into self-isolation.

He called for prayers from the people of the state saying “your continued prayers over my well being are most appreciated.”

“I had Malaria few days and was treated and did get over it. As at the time we had our party (APC) NEC meeting, my colleagues called on me. I spoke with one of them, feared that malaria should not be treated lightly and I should go-ahead to test for Covid-19,” Akeredolu said.

“The result came out today, 30th June, 2020. And I tested positive. But I am hale and unsymptomatic. I am not feeling odd in any way. My doctors have said I should take the normal treatment and self-isolate.”

The governor assured the people of Ondo state that government work is going as he will be taking control of the state affairs from his isolation.

Akeredolu further said in the next few days, another test will be carried out on him to know if there is a change to his Covid-19 status.

Ondo has 276 cases of Covid-19 after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 32 news infection in the state on Monday, June 29.
