President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his shock over the recent ethnic clashes in the South Eastern Region of Salamat, Chad that has wrought havoc in the region.

Buhari extended his condolences to President Idriss Deby Itno of Chad after ethnic clashes in the villages around the provincial capital of Am Timan left scored dead.

Buhari said: “I am shocked and saddened by the incident that shattered decades of relative peace and stability in Chad,

He condemned clashes between the etnic groups and said: “ethnic and tribal clashes is a threat to African unity and stability and Nigeria joins the rest of Africa to deplore the latest eruption of violence in Chad. A threat to stability in one part of Africa is a threat to the rest of us”

In other news, President Buhari has not been exempted from criticisms as he was blasted by the national publicity secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan.

According to him, the state of insecurity and economic mishap has raised to a level that leaves much to be desired.

He said: “The Peoples Democratic Party welcomes President Muhammadu Buhari from his medical tourism in the United Kingdom, but rejects his declaration that Nigerians should expect the “continuity” of his misrule,”

“The PDP also asserts that the statement by the All Progressives Congress that President Buhari has been “re-energized” after his medical treatment, is a confirmation that Mr. President had been incapable and lethargic, leading to the inefficiency, disorganization and general misrule that has bedevilled his administration.
