“This Wasn’t What She Said 10years Ago” – Omotola Ekeinde Exposed After Boasting Of Being A Millionaire At 18 When She Got Married

“I am off to party, i can’t come and kill myself” - Actress, Omotola Jalade threatens

Nigerians have dragged Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde on social media over her comments during an interview with BBC Yoruba.

Omotola revealed in the interview that she married when she was 18 years old and at their time she was financially independent and prepared for marriage because she was a millionaire at that age.

The mother of four who marked 25 years of marriage recently, intimated in the video that a woman who does not have her source of livelihood should not attempt to marry because she will be leading herself into slavery and imprisonment.

She said;

“I was at the age of consent when I got married and above all, I was mature when I met my husband. Currently, I have only one child that is 18 years old, so the question is late. He is a boy and peradventure, he says he wants to get married, I will not allow it because he does not have his own money now. One must apply wisdom or common sense in everything one does.

People cannot say that because I married at 18, therefore they can also do it. The question is, ‘are you ready for marriage’? When I was at that age, I was ready. I had been working since I was 15-years-old and I had become a millionaire at the age of 18. That is a fact that a lot of people don’t know.

“I had my own money. I was not dependent on any man. Moreover, my father died early, so I was already responsible for my younger siblings. I was like their mother at that time, so I was very mature and financially prepared. One should not marry a man when one is not financially stable.

If one does that, one would be going into slavery or better still, prison. If any of my children, after considering all these factors, say they are ready for marriage, we (parents) would meet the person and if we like them, we would give them our blessings.”

However, some Nigerians are not impressed by her claims but rather accused her of lying about some of the things she said as they pointing to what she said a decade ago.

Sighted on Kemi Filani news, Omotola said;

One Vera wrote “This wasn’t what she said 10years ago, I have read one of her interview where she said, she had to get married early because of her family’s situation”

One Ivy wrote “But, this was different from the interview I read years back!! According to the gist, you had to marry because of family situation bk then..to help “financially” what do I know self”

One Thomas wrote “Now she’s lying! These people change stories so many times. They forget some of us are old enough to remember their old interviews. Sis, that man came to Ife to marry you, your Aunty legit sold you off to your pilot husband. You were no millionaire. Wtf is she lying?”

One Judith wrote “The story I read in her interview with encomium magazine 15yrs ago is not what I’m hearing now or Maybe the story escalated by itself cos I am not UNDERSTANDING ANYMORE. I read that apparently, she got married so she could upgrade her life from poverty due to the fact that she lost her father and her mother barely had enough money to cater for the family why is there now another fabricated story years later “
