16-year-old Ghanaian female student allegedly commits Suicide in School Dining Hall

A 16-year-old student of Miracles Senior High School Sunyani in the Bono Region, Ghana, reportedly committed suicide in the school dining hall.

According to viral reports, the student identified as Leticia was found hanging from the ceiling of the school dining hall by her colleagues on Monday, May 17, 2021, around 9:45 pm.

Sunyani Municipal Police Service confirmed the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of Sunyani Regional Hospital for autopsy.

Popular journalist with Sunyani 88.1 FM, Hon. Asabee Asabee, who shared the tragic incident on Facebook noted that the deceased is a final year student at Miracle Senior High School, located at Baakoniaba, Sunyani east municipality.

This is coming after a 15-year-old South African girl, Lufuno Mavhungu Tshirenzheni, allegedly committed suicide after she was bullied by her classmates on the school premises.

According to the Limpopo provincial police, the young girl from the Thulamela Municipality, Limpopo, allegedly committed suicide by overdosing on pills on Monday, April 12th.

Videos that surfaced online, following the incident, showed the moment the grade 10 student from Mbilwi Secondary School in the Vhembe East education district, was confronted by two other girls, said to be her classmates.

In the video, one of them signals the other to move while she got closer to the victim to slap her countless times. The victim grabs the pupil who was assaulting her in an attempt to block the blows.

Other students can be heard in the background cheering the alleged perpetrator, who is also in grade 10.
