Woman pronounced dead at Beach in Essex after Beachgoers saw her Struggling and called Police

A woman was found dead at Chalkwell beach in Essex.

Police were called to the beach around 10.15 am this morning, June 7, after people spotted the woman struggling in the water.

The Southend-on-Sea Coastguard, police, and paramedic teams were dispatched to Chalkwell beach immediately.

Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Essex Police confirmed in a statement: “We arrived and sadly found a woman had died. We will issue a further update when we can.”

Pictures show several police cars parked up by the beach, with dozens of people on the sand. An air ambulance was also spotted circling overhead.

A Coastguard spokesperson added: “A 999 call was received at 10.10 am today [June 7] following an incident at Chalkwell Beach.

“The Southend Coastguard Rescue Team, Southend RNLI lifeboat, Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service attended.”
