Euro 2020: Italy defeats Home side, England to become European Champions

Italian men nation team are the champions of Europe after defeating the home side, England in the final of the Euro 2020 tournament.

The match started on a high note for the Three Lions after Shaw fired home in 2nd minute. Italy gave it their best in the remaining 43 minutes in the first half but were unable to equalise before the half was over. The Azzurri went all out in the second half and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 67th minute thanks to a goal from Bonucci.

Both teams came close to taking it but the game ended as a draw. Thirty minutes of extra time was intense for both teams but none was able to go ahead.

The match proceeded to Penalty Shootout and each team put forward their best 5 PK takers. Donnarumma was the hero for Italy after saving 2 crucial PKs from Sancho and Saka. Rashford PK hit the crossbar which brought the Italian back into the race after Andrea Belotti lost the second PK for the Azzurri. Italy won 3 – 2 on PK.
