A chief magistrate court sitting in Lagos has ordered the remand of 21-year-old Chidinma Ojukwu, over the alleged murder of Super TV CEO, Michael Usifo Ataga.

Magistrate Adeola Adedayo of the Lagos State Magistrate Court in Yaba ordered the remand of the 300 UNILAG students and one Adedapo Quadri for 30 days following an application of the police counsel.

At the hearing for the remand application on Monday, August 9 the police prosecutor, Cyril Ajifor, told the court that the application was made pursuant to section 264 subsections 1 and 2 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.

Ruling on the application, the magistrate said,

“In the absence of any opposition, the two defendants are hereby remanded for 30 days in the first instance. The case is adjourned till September 5, for review of remand/DPP’s advice.”

Chidinma Ojukwu was arrested in June 2021 for allegedly stabbing billionaire, Michael Usifo Ataga to death in a service apartment in Lekki, Lagos State.
