Nigerian Cyclist dies days after being stabbed by armed robbers in Lagos

Friends have taken to social media to mourn the death of a Nigerian cyclist who was stabbed by armed robbers who attacked him in Lagos.

Afolabi Mabogunje was reportedly stabbed last Thursday, September 9, at Shodex in Anthony, Lagos state, while he was waiting at the usual meetup spot for his fellow cyclists.

According to a friend named Dr Yinka Awoyemi, Mabogunje, aka Mabogs, managed to apply pressure on the spot where he was stabbed and cycled himself down to Gbagada General Hospital, where he was attended to by his wife, a doctor, alongside others.

He was thereafter transferred to another hospital where he was operated on, but sadly his jugular vein had already been breached and he gave up the ghost in the early hours of today, September 16.

The cyclist community have taken to their official Facebook page to pay tribute to the departed soul.
