EFCC arrests All Progressive Congress chieftain Femi Fani-Kayode.

He was on his way out of the courtroom when he was approached by an EFCC official.

Fani-Kayode, who was arrested a week earlier by the Commission, was again arrested and taken into custody.

An official of the Commission, Shehu Shuaibu, confirmed Fani-Kayode’s arrest.

He said that the former minister had some questions to answer over some false documents.

The accused who was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Lagos had pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail.

The commission, however, accused the former minister of stalling the trial by claiming to be on admission at the hospital.

The court also found out in its records that Fani-Kayode had issued used excuses five times earlier and consequently ordered him to be present in court on the next date without fail. The court also ordered him to pay a fine of N200,000 in addition.

On Tuesday, when the case was mentioned, Fani-Kayode and all other defendants were reportedly present in court. The EFCC had earlier on Tuesday, November 23, arrested Fani-Kayode. He was nabbed and subsequently taken to the Lagos Zonal Office of the anti-graft agency for alleged manipulation and forgery of documents. However, the former minister later issued a statement, denying being arrested by the commission. He said he was invited, not arrested.
