A young Nigerian disc jockey, Michelle Abesin, better known as DJ Michelle, has taken to social media to lament the constant harassment and alleged threats she has been receiving since she survived drowning.

It would be recalled that the 21-year-old had gone to a beach in Lagos on Thursday, November 18, 2021, with her sister and friends to have fun when she was swept away by water but was rescued alive 24 hours later.

According to her, since the incident, people have been calling her all sorts of demeaning names, like “Mami Water”.

Taking to her Instagram page to express her displeasure, Michelle shared a screenshot of a message she received from a follower calling her ‘Mami Water’ and noted that henceforth she would be blocking people who mock her over the incident.

Her words,

“I think I will start doing it the blocking way. If you know me u know I‘m emotional and take things personal. I didn’t first block people cos I was waiting it out. Is it a crime to have an accident and be alive?”
