Six youths reportedly returning from nightclub killed as car rams into truck in Delta

Six youths said to be students of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, were killed in a freak accident involving a Mercedes Benz and truck in Delta state on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the incident happened when a Mercedes Benz car rammed into a truck near Akala Park along the Ogwashi Uku-Kwale Expressway, Delta State.

An eyewitness told Punch that the incident which occurred around 4 am on Tuesday, March 15, also involved some women who were going to market.

“It was young boys and young girls that were in the new Mercedes Benz car, they were between 25 and 20 years old. ” the witness said.

Viral reports claimed that the students who lost their lives in the ghastly accident were returning from a birthday party held at a nightclub.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Ibrahim Abubakar, who confirmed the incident to news men said,

“The victims were three adult males and three females. The two vehicles scattered in pieces and it was difficult identifying the victims as a result of the impact of the collision. We couldn’t find the registration numbers of the two vehicles, either people took them away or because of the impact of the clash; we couldn’t just locate them. Two of the victims were trapped under the truck and it took our men hectic time to push out the truck before we could bring them out dead.”
