Nigerian LGBTQ members stage protest in Abuja demand equal rights

Members of the LGBTQ community in Nigeria, on Monday, staged their first-ever protest in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The group which stormed Unity Fountain demanded that their lives are respected and they be accorded equal rights as every other Nigerian irrespective of their orientation.

Members could be seen carrying placards and they wore shirts with inscriptions; ‘Queer rights are human rights’ ‘Trans life matters’.

This comes weeks after the House of Representatives moved to amend the same-sex act that would jail crossdressers in the country.
