Soldiers reportedly fire gunshots to disperse students protesting against ASUU strike in Akure (Videos)
Students who were protesting against the lingering ASUU strike in Akure were reportedly dispersed by men of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, May 17 students from three universities in Ondo state barricaded the Ilesha/Akure expressway to protest their forced stay at home owing to strike action.
According to viral reports, soldiers came to the protest scene and fired gunshots into the air to disperse the protesting students.
Videos circulating on social media show students scampering for safety as the soldiers fired gunshots to frighten them away from the road.

In other news, popular Nigerian comedienne and actress, Helen Paul has lamented over the predicament of the average business owner in Nigeria.
She took to her Instagram page in the early hours of Tuesday, May 17, to raise concern about the epileptic power supply and increase in electricity tariff.
According to her, business owners spend a lot of money to fuel their generator to run their businesses, and in turn, use the profit realized from the business to pay for NEPA bill.
Bemoaning the sad situation, the 44-year-old comic actress asserted that the average busines owner can no longer account for their profit and investment.
“In Nigeria, you fuel your generator to run your business and use the profit to pay NEPA bill”, she wrote.
