Kidnap kingpin, Evans, sentenced to 21 years imprisonment

Evans the 'kidnapper' loses N1bn fundamental rights Suit against Nigerian Police over Seizure of his Property

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, is sentenced to 21 years imprisonment after being found guilty.

An Ikeja Court on Monday gives the final verdict of the convicted kidnap kingpin who was arrested in 2017 for horrendous acts.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offences Court sentenced Evans and his co-defendant, Victor Aduba, to 21 years imprisonment for kidnapping one Sylvanus Hafia.

The suspect had pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of conspiring and kidnapping Sylvanus Ahanonu Hafia at about 5:30 pm on June 23, 2014, at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos and was alleged to have captured and detained Hafia and demanded a ransom of $2m.
