Grandmother who set her son daughter-in-law and grandchildren ablaze in Ondo is dead

Iforiti Oloro, the 75-year-old grandmother who set ablaze her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren in Ondo State is dead.

It was gathered that Mrs Oloro, who sustained some degrees of burns in the fire, passed away at the weekend in an undisclosed hospital.

A source who pleaded anonymity in a phone chat with the Peoples Gazette said,

“The old woman (Iforiti) is dead after sustaining some burns in the fire incident. She was taken to the hospital but we got the information that she’s dead.”

Recall that the septuagenarian who lived with her son at Aponmu Community, along Ondo-Akure Road, set the house ablaze while the family was asleep on Saturday, March 18.

Some neighbours broke into the house through the window and rescued her son, Victor Oloro; wife, Rachael; and children, Toluwani and Blessing.

They were rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Owo for medical attention. Victor and his wife gave up the ghost while their children were said to be receiving treatment.

The grandmother, Iforiti Oloro, while speaking with journalists after the incident, confessed that she burnt her son and his family, claiming that they were starving her.

A police investigator in the case also confirmed Mrs Oloro’s death saying, “Yes, she is dead. She has been moved to the morgue.”
