Justice Walter Onnoghen’s CCT trial to resume on February 4th

150 SANs to defend Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen at CCT

Justice Walter Onnoghen’s Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) trial will resume on February 4th, 2019, after his suspension as CJN.

Onnoghen, who was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 25, 2019, on a directive issued by the CCT, will face trial over allegations of a fraudulent declaration of assets.

It will be recalled that Onnoghen had filed a suit at the Court of Appeal challenging his trial but his case was dismissed on the ground that the suit was “brought in a vacuum”.

The National Christian Elders Forum, NCEF, stated earlier today that an Islamic agenda is behind the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, who has now been replaced by acting CJN, Justice Tanko Mohammed Ibrahim.

According to the group, the move as dictated by an Islamic agenda is something which Nigerians must kick against.
