ASUU Chairman sues Ambrose Alli University over Sex for Marks allegation

Ambrose Ali University ASUU Chairman suspended over Sex-for-marks Scandal

Former Chairman of Ambrose Alli University branch of the ASUU, Monday Igbafen has threatened to sue the institution for suspending him over allegations of sex for marks.

He said he would institute legal action against the institution if it fails to retract its “defamatory materials” within 30 days.

It will be recalled that AAU announced Igbafen’s suspension on February 13, 2019, over alleged gross misconduct bordering on sexual harassment and threats of sex-for-marks. He, however, denied all allegations and claimed he was being blackmailed.

Igbafen who is an associate professor in the Department of Philosophy in the University, wrote to the school via his lawyers Osehon Irebhude & Co demanding a written apology from the school and the sum of N200million as compensation for the injury he suffered because of the said offensive publication.

The letter read in part: “The author of the write-up and the university knew that that allegation was unfounded but was only meant to spite our client and he has indeed been injured by the grave but untrue allegation contained in that offensive publication.

“Our client has been injured in his character, credit and reputation and has been exposed to odium, hatred and ridicule and has suffered damages.”
