DSS invites INEC Logistics Chairman Okechukwu Ibeanu for Questioning
The Department for State Security, DSS, has invited Okechukwu Ibeanu to explain his role in the postponement of the election which was to hold on February 16.
Okechukwu Ibeanu is expected to show up to answer questions from DSS today by 2 pm.
The presidential election which as to hold on February 16 was cancelled with INEC citing logistics problem as the reason. It has however been rescheduled for February 23rd.
Reacting to the postponement which angered many Nigerians, President Buhari said INEC didn’t have to wait for six hours to the polls to postpone it especially when they had all the resources they needed.
He said:
“Definitely, the reasons why such incompetence manifests itself has to be explained to the nation.
“After the elections, we have to know exactly what happened and who’s responsible. Otherwise, our efforts to make sure this system we voluntarily accept is not making progress.
“What is the use if we accept incompetence? The constitution and the laws protected INEC but they must not take us for granted.”
