Infantino to continue as FIFA President as he stands unopposed in Election

Gianni Infantino is set to continue as FIFA President for four more years due to being the only candidate for election.

Infantino must now go through the formality of eligibility and integrity checks for the election on June 5 in Paris.

The 48-year-old Swiss lawyer is currently unopposed and has received support from most Fifa members through their continental governing bodies such as North America’s Concacaf and South America’s Conmebol.

His tenure since being elected in February 2016 saw the expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams in 2026 with three countries – the United States, Canada and Mexico- to co-host it.
