Our men didn’t kill unarmed man in Benin – Police
The Nigeria Police Force has denied being involved in the killing of an unarmed man in Benin, Edo State by some unidentified security operatives.
It had earlier been reported that the unarmed man was gunned down by police officers who had gone to round them off at their residence.
The Police , however, stated that the man belonged to a violent kidnap for ransom syndicate who were tracked down to that location.
In an update made via the Police social media page, they wrote:
It has been established that the armed men in the viral video are not officers of the
@PoliceNG but operatives of a sister security agency. All the men rounded up in the video are members of a violent kidnap for ransom syndicate who were tracked…

But in another development, a private investigation led by Town Criers NG, has revealed that there is no evidence by the Police to prove that the deceased was a kidnapper.
In a series of posts made on Twitter, they claimed the man was a theater practitioner based in Benin, Edo State.
Investigation currently reveals that the slain young man, Mr. Ali, was a known theater practitioner in Benin

5. @town_crierng’s interview with eye witnesses and few persons who live at the crime scene reveals that the @PoliceNG made no on-ground investigation into the killing of Mr Ali before issuing the pictured statement @PoliceNG may have relied on the story it received from the DSS pic.twitter.com/7c4UHg9m5h

6. While investigation suggests that Mr Ali has no connection with kidnapping, the legitimacy of the offence against the others is not yet certain.
We hope this gets the required public attention.
