Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter Damini Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy in a new interview revealed how he got his stage name and also narrated how he used to draw comics which centred on superheroes.

According to the Burna Boy, he was quite fascinated and also wanted to be a superhero, which was how he got his stage name.

On how life was while growing up in Rivers State, he said;

“It is a different world. There are a lot of similarities between us and any other developing country.

“There is heaven and hell in the same place. There is heaven for the people that have money and connections and is hell, or even worse than hell for people who don’t.

“We are very strong people who are very good at adapting to situations and making the best of the worst situations. That is the spirit we have.

His mother who double as his manager, also got a chance to speak in the interview.

According to Bose Ogulu, her son who started singing early when other kids his age were reciting nursery rhymes, was quite courageous and always asked questions.

She further revealed that she had to get over the ‘initial embarrassment’, because she discovered that she was also different.
