#OyoDecides2019: APC’s Adebayo Adelabu congratulates PDP’s Seyi Makinde on his Victory

The APC governorship candidate in the Saturday, March 9th election in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, has congratulated the governor-elect in the state, Seyi Makinde of the PDP.

In a statement he personally signed, Adelabu said his party, APC, was still studying the incidents of violence and reported electoral malpractices during the election, saying it will determine the next line of action. He, however, congratulated Makinde, who was declared as the winner of the election on Sunday. The statement in part reads

“While my party is studying the incidents of violence and various reported cases of electoral malpractices to determine further course of action if necessary, I congratulate Seyi Makinde of PDP.”

The returning officer during the gubernatorial election, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe had, Sunday evening, declared Makinde as the winner of the election, having secured a total of 515, 621 votes to defeat APC’s candidate, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, who scored a total of 357,982 votes.
