Jussie Smollett to be sued by City of Chicago for $130k

Empire actor, Jussie Smollett is set to be sued by the city of Chicago to recoup the $130,000 it spent in carrying out the investigation into the actor’s police report.

According to the police, the actor filed a false report even though he maintains innocence. He was accused of taking a hate crime when he said he was beaten by two white men.

A bill of $130,106.15 eas given to Jussie Smollett with a week for him to pay, but he refused to pay the amount.

“ Mr. Smollett has refused to reimburse the City of Chicago for the cost of police overtime spent investigating his false police report on Jan. 29, 2019.

“The Law Department is now drafting a civil complaint that will be filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County… The Law Department will file the suit in the near future. As part of this legal action, the Law Department will pursue the full measure of damages allowed under the ordinance.”
