Manchester City move to sign Kante as Fernandinho replacement

Manchester City are making moves to sign N’Golo Kante from Chelsea as a long term replacement for ageing Fernandinho.

Pep Guardiola’s side are in the market for a long-term successor to Fernandinho, who turns 34 next month and have several names on their shortlist.

Kante, meanwhile, has established himself as one of the world’s best defensive midfielders, though under Maurizio Sarri this season, Kante has been ousted from his favoured role at the heart of Chelsea’s midfield to accommodate Jorginho, who moved to Stamford Bridge in a £57 million deal from Napoli last July.

According to Goal, City have been monitoring Kante’s situation at Chelsea and have requested intermediaries to keep them up to date if the midfielder becomes unhappy at the club.

Recall that Kante also won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France in Russia.
