#RiversElection: Wike wins Governorship Election in Rivers

Police confirm the kidnap of Governor Wike's aide, Anugbom Anuoha

In the re-schedule governorship election in Rivers State, Governor Nyesome Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has polled a total of 886,264 votes to defeat Biokpomabo Awara of the African Action Congress (AAC), who could only win 173859 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had, on March 10, suspended the collation of the results of the election in the state citing electoral violence.

The electoral umpire also announced a schedule of activities for the resumption of the exercise, with collation and announcement of results slated to hold between April 2 and April 5.

By the end of Tuesday, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced results from 15 local government areas, Wike, had polled 426,369 votes against 129,855 votes secured by.

By the results, Wike, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won by a margin of 712,405.
