The CORRUPTION taking place in Higher Institutions is so Alarming – Magu

We’ve secured 703 convictions since 2015 – Ibrahim Magu says as he celebrates his 3rd year as EFCC boss

The Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has said the corruption taking place in higher institutions of learning is so alarming.

Magu reiterated his resolve and that of the Commission to make the fight against economic and financial crimes more severe in Nigerian higher institutions of learning.

Hamza Ridwan, second-in-command, Maiduguri Zonal Office spoke on behalf of Magu when a delegation of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone C, comprising North-east and North-central zones came on a courtesy visit in Maiduguri Zonal office. Magu said;

“The fight against corruption in the higher institutions of learning across the North-east, North-central and the country at large is not a new one to the Commission. But the Commission cannot do it alone; we need the collaboration of stakeholders like the students union representatives.

“The corruption taking place in higher institutions of learning is so alarming and we need you to notify us with facts and your identity will not be disclosed. When you hear complaints from academic and non-academic staff in your various institutions, you should be courageous to come and report to the Commission.”

Magu also urged Nigerian students to shun corruption.

“Make sure you shun corruption at this stage, because you are representing students who are the leaders of tomorrow and the general public as well.”
