Driver who killed four Anambra school Children arrested

The driver who allegedly killed four Anambra school children and injured 10 others has been arrested by the state’s Police command.

Ifeanyi Abanaofor, Oba Divisional Police Officer, confirmed the arrest of the driver who drove the vehicle that killed four Anambra school children and injured 10 others who are currently being managed at the hospital.

Ifeanyi Abanaofor said,

“The injured are about 10 and they have been taken to various hospitals for medical attention. The driver of the ill-fated vehicle, Mr Chibuzor Elebo, has been arrested.”

The school children were said to have just closed for the day from school when the fatal accident took place. An eye witness said,

“The schoolchildren came out in large numbers, having been dismissed at about 2pm on the fateful day. As they were going on the Oba/Nnewi Old Road, an Infinity SUV with number plate MYB 22 AAA was coming from the Onitsha direction and had brake failure and rammed into the pupils, killing four on the spot, while about 10 of them sustained injuries. The corpses of the deceased were deposited in the Gateway Hospital morgue, Oba.”

Although this eye witness claims it was due to brake failure, another claim it was due to the driver’s recklessness as the driver was said to be on a telephone call while driving, leading to the accident.
