Egypt bus blast: 17 injured as Bomb hits Tourist bus near Egypt’s Giza Pyramids

An Egypt bus blast which happened near the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza has left 17 people wounded after the explosion hits tourist bus.

The bomb went off on a road near the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is still under construction and not open to tourists.

Two sources told Reuters that most of the injuries were foreign tourists, including one person believed to be from South Africa.

A witness, Mohamed el-Mandouh, said he heard a “very loud explosion” while sitting in traffic near the site of the blast.

The location is home to the renowned Great Pyramid of Giza and attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.

Just six months ago, three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian guide were killed and 11 others injured when a bomb blast hit their bus.

The explosion took place on Marioutiya Road in the pyramid district, one of the most famous streets in greater Cairo. The tourists were heading to a sound and light show at the pyramids, which they had visited earlier in the day.

The wounded included South African tourists and Egyptians, officials said on Sunday. There were no reports of deaths in the Egypt bus blast.
