“Godfather” actor Carmine Caridi is dead, aged 85

Godfather actor dies aged 85. The actor was best known for playing Carmine Rosato in the iconic film trilogy.

Carmine Caridi reportedly died from complications suffered during hospitalization for a bad fall at Cedars-Sinai hospital in L.A. Carmine Caridi died on Wednesday

According to TMZ, a representative for Carmine said the actor had been at Cedars-Sinai since April 25 when he took a nasty fall. He had been getting treatment for back injuries, but after nearly a month in the hospital, he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

He was diagnosed last Thursday, and although doctors felt he was stable enough for release on Friday, his health started deteriorating on Saturday.

The rep also said he was responsive up until the day before his death, even though some of the veteran TV actor friends have posted he was in a coma.

Carmine is a veteran TV actor, who’s starred in big shows like “Starsky and Hutch,” “Taxi,” “Fame” and “Simon & Simon.” He also, notably, played Det. Vince Gotelli in “NYPD Blue.”

After starring in The Godfather Part II in 1974, Caridi returned for Part III, but in a different role-playing Albert Volpe this time. After more than six decades in showbiz, Caridi achieved more than 100 acting credits
