Gunmen attack Sokoto Village, kill 82-year-old TRADITIONAL RULER

Gunmen attack Sokoto village in Gudu Local Government Area and killed their traditional ruler.

According to reports, the 82-year-old district head, Ibrahim Aliyu was shot in the head. The attack was confirmed by the member representing the area at the State House of Assembly, Honourable Faruk Balle.

The late district head, who was survived by two wives, eight children and many grandchildren, had been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

Balle is the headquarters of Gudu local government area of Sokoto state, which had been peaceful before Wednesday attack.

The news is said to come as a shock as Balle is used to being the most peaceful area in the state. This is not the first time gunmen attack Sokoto.

You may recall we reported that former governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa ‘s home was attacked by unknown gunmen, along with other houses in Bafarawa village.

The gunmen attacked all in Isa local government area of Sokoto state where Attahiru Bafarawa lives, Suleiman Shuaib-Shinkafi, Director General of Bafarawa Foundation confirmed the incident to newsmen.

According to Suleiman Shuaib-Shinkafi, the ex-governor’s security guard was killed during the attack and one person by name, Abdulrasheed Sa’idu was kidnapped.
