Popular Singer, Rabiu Baba dies

Famous musician, Rabiu Baba has died. The singer died Thursday in his Kano residence following a protracted illness.

Rabiu Baba died leaving behind his wife and many children was in his early 50s. He became famous in the late eighties and early nineties for his praise songs.

He sang majorly praise songs for Prophet Muhammad – Peace be Upon him and songs which shaped people’s attitudes towards religious inclinations.

His death has brought a shock to residents in Kano after the news broke. They have also come together to extend prayers mercies as he died in the Holy month.

Malam Wada Abdulhamid said that the singer had brought a new era of religious praise singing in the Hausaland and that was what made him famous.

“I can recall that he started singing with heavy musical instrument which was new then and he became famous amongst youths.”

Women in Kano also mourn the deceased as Hajiya Hassan Abubakar said she even wept when she received the news of his death

Rabiu Baba is said to have touched so many lives with his music. Social media has also been flooded with lyrics from his songs as fans mourn his death.
