Aduda, Melaye Protest non-inclusion of FCT nominee in Ministerial List

Senator Dino Melaye (PDP, Kogi) and Senator Philip Aduda (PDP, FCT) got quite vocal at Wednesday’s plenary ahead of the commencement of the screening of the 43 Ministerial nominees, over the non-inclusion of an FCT representative.

Senator Philip Aduda while speaking at the plenary, recounted how the FCT produced Ministers in the past.

”Years back, we had a minister from FCT. General Bagudu was a minister. Please ask the president to consider FCT” he said.

Dino Melaye in his contribution said;

“It is not a matter of appeal, it is a constitutional matter. If the constitution says that FCT shall be treated like a state, it should be considered.”’

Senate President Ahmad Lawan also commented on the exclusion, stating that it is an executive function.

“ This is an executive function and I’m sure the executive will take appropriate action” he said.
