The dust has settled and reality has dawned on the fact that Nigeria’s Super Eagles will have to try again next edition for a Fourth African Cup of Nations, AFCON Trophy but there are some positives to take from this current team.

Super Eagles of Nigeria coach, Gernot Rohr reacted to his team’s semi-final game at 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which they lost to 2 – 1 to Algeria on Sunday Night.

Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez turned out to be the decider as he scored a stunning free-kick for the Desert Foxes in the stoppage time to take his country to the final clash of the tournament.

Speaking on the match, Super Eagles Gaffer said:

“It was a big fight until the last minute, it was a wonderful match, I think my players wanted it to go to extra-time thinking Algeria were more tired,”

“We scored an own goal, unlucky, but we have come back every time in this tournament and this time we came back on a penalty.

“But a wonderful free-kick from a football genius made the difference.”
