Giving money to Poor People with Luxury Phones is not Charity but Stupidity – Reno Omokri
Nigerian lawyer and author Reno Omokri, recently had a piece of advice to drop for people who have made normalcy of living above their means.
In a post shared on Facebook, Omokri highlighted one of the unbecoming habits of less privileged people, when it comes to the issue of making luxury mobile gadget purchases.
He wondered if people in this class have ever come across wealthy people opting for the latest versions of mobile phones when their current devices are in perfect working conditions.
The author pointed out that phone is simply a communication gadget and should not be used as a yardstick for judging an individual’s status.
“A phone is a communication gadget, not a status symbol,” Omokri said. On a final note, he charged people to never give out financial aids to individuals who use better phones than they do, because it is an act of stupidity as opposed to charity.
He said by giving out money, one is simply enabling the person’s false lifestyle.
