#BBNaija 2019: Esther is the 8th Week Head of House

Big Brother Naija ‘Pepper Dem’ housemate, Esther has emerged the Head of House for week 8 in the house.

As usual, the housemates were invited into the arena on Monday for the weekly HOH challenge. The HOH challenge this week is termed the ‘Spelling Bee’, all the remaining 16 housemates participated in the challenge.

The challenge this week involves housemates picking alphabetic tiles that are similar to that of the popular Scrabble game only that there are no numbers just alphabet, the tiles were placed inside 4 containers that are placed in 4 different locations in the arena.

Before the start of the game the housemates first picked their names that were printed on a card and were instructed to place it on a portion of a platform that was demarcated by sellotape, each housemate is instructed to spell all their words inside their assigned portion on the platform. Another instruction is that each housemate is only allowed to pick just one tile at a time. The task is set to last for 5 minutes.

After the first round, Tacha, Mike, Diane & Venita were disqualified for picking more than one tile at a time, the remaining housemates were able to spell only a few words but Elozonam, Seyi, Khafi, Frodd, Esther and Ike spelt the most words with 7 words each, there is a need for a tie-breaker so the challenge proceeded to second round.

For the second rounds, the housemates were asked to spell only one word but it should be a very long word before the time elapses, the rest of the housemates had short words but Elozonam and Esther had a 13 alphabet word each, another tie-breaker was needed the challenge proceeded to the third round.

During the third round, Esther beat Elozonam making her the HOH this week, with the HOH badge, she also got 200 ‘Bet9ja’ coins and the HOH luxury apartment which she chose to share with Frodd.

Esther is the only female to have won the prestigious HOH challenge this season and this is the second time she is winning the crown. She and Seyi are now tie with 2 HOH wins in the house, they are the leading winner of the crown. Other housemates that have won the challenger are: Jeff, Nelson and Frodd.
