Football club in Kano state signs a player in a record deal worth N5,000

Nigerian amateur side Super Stars club made history after signing Ibrahim Salisu Iriyos in a record deal worth N5000 (£10.86) this month.

Iriyos, who is known for scoring goals joined the Kano division two side from Aston Villa Gano in a bid to further his career at a more professional club than his former side.

According to BBC, Iriyos becomes the current most expensive player in that town, as he took time out to train with Super Stars while his ex-club was on break.

And during that period, the coaches were impressed with his work rate and performances – which is why they made a move for him.

The publication further revealed that the chairman of the club Idin Gano led the delegation for the negotiations for the player.

Both sides, however, agreed terms having met with Aston Villa Gano coach before putting pen to paper as the player moved to his new club.

Iriyos’ deal came nine days after the transfer window in the top five European Leagues had closed earlier this month.
