Nollywood Actress, Omoni Oboli praises Abike Dabiri, narrates Family’s pleasant surprise at renewing Passport in Canada
Popular Nollywood actress, Omoni Oboli, has narrated how she was able to renew her family’s passports without having to go through the stress of booking an appointment in Canada.
Oboli said all that happened with the help of Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).
In a tweet thread on Saturday, August 31, the popular actress, narrated how frustrated she was when she could not get an appointment for the renewal.
She said when she came online to vent her frustration, someone directed her to the chairman of NIDCOM whom she tweeted at.
Abike was able to get a contact of an official to call at the commission in Ottawa. It was when she got in touch with the person that she know that she did not need an appointment to walk in the commission and do the renewal.

About a week ago, I tweeted my frustration with the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa. What had happened was, my family was trying to renew passports and we filled forms online, paid etc but we didn’t get an appointment. Waited for about a month…a thread

The official told her that in as much as she has paid online and has all the necessary documentation, then all is good.
Oboli said that she was sceptical at first because the drive from her home to the commission is a whole whopping six hours and would not want to be turned back for not having an appointment.
To her amazement, not only was she able to get the passports renewed, she was got quite a warm reception at the high commission, commending the professionalism of the officials she encountered.
