Moment car knocks ‘shoplifter’ into the air as he tried to flee raid

The moment a suspected shoplifter was hit by a car and sent flying through the air as he tried to escape was captured on video.

The suspect, believed to be in his 20s, sustained a fractured skull following the collision on Beal Lane in Shaw, Greater Manchester.

In the video, the suspected thief was seen running out of the shop and straight into the path of an oncoming car that hit him and threw him into the air.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “The incident was a result of a suspected theft from a shop where the male ran onto the road and was hit by a vehicle. Officers are still investigating and enquiries are ongoing.

“The casualty’s injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

“He is believed to have sustained a fractured skull.”

The collision happened shortly after 6 pm on Wednesday, September 25, but the video was recently released. It’s thought the man had fled the ‘News, Food and Booze’ newsagent.
