Nigerians on social media are currently buzzing with excitement over who will emerge Next Rated artiste at the 2019 Headies.

The 2019 edition of the Headies award is set to take place on October 19 at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos state. Being one of the most anticipated and biggest awards in Nigeria, it comes as no surprise the amount of attention it’s been getting of late.

The year 2019 has no doubt witnessed the rise of some talented singers, slowly dominating the music industry. With every month, comes a hit song from these fast-rising stars who seem to have developed a spirit of healthy competition amongst themselves.

With hit songs like Jealous by Fireboy DML, Baby by Joeboy, Dumebi by Rema and of course Killin Dem by Zlatan in which he featured Burnaboy, it is obvious the year 2019 has definitely been an interesting one for the music industry.

As the hours draw closer to the Headies Award, many people are anticipating who the winner of the Next Rated category is going to be.

Judging by how well many of these new artistes have performed, it comes as no surprise the heated debate currently going on on social media as many people want either Rema, Fireboy DML, Joeboy or Zlatan to emerge the winner.

I don't think Zlatan ibile deserves to be nominated in the next rated category, he doesn't have the lyrical content of an artiste to be in that category, May be street song of the year or anything else, but definitely not next rated. #Headies
