Prince’s estate furious after Trump played ‘Purple Rain’ again at rally despite warnings for him to stop using the late singer’s songs
Prince’s estate is upset with US President Donald Trump after “Purple Rain” was played again at his campaign rally, despite warnings to stop.
Almost exactly one year to the date when Trump’s Campaign agreed to stop playing the late singer’s music, they went back on their words and played “Purple Rain” on Thursday, October 10, during Trump’s campaign rally in Prince’s hometown.
Trump was in Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis at The Target Center. Before the rally started, “Purple Rain” played throughout the arena on loudspeakers.

This angered Prince’s estate and they reacted in a statement, saying: “President Trump played Prince’s “Purple Rain” tonight at a campaign event in Minneapolis despite confirming a year ago that the campaign would not use Prince’s music. The Prince Estate will never give permission to President Trump to use Prince’s songs.”
